Abusive supervision, organizational citizenship behavior and counterproductive work behavior among employees of Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development
Abstract
The study aimed at examining the relationship between abusive supervision, organizational citizenship behaviour and counterproductive workbehaviour among employeesof Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development. The study adopted a correlational research design. A convenient sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 80 respondents. Data was collected from respondents using self-administered questionnaire and through using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) data was analyzed. Results from Pearson product-moment correlation Coefficient (r) indicated that there was a significant negative relationship between abusive supervision and organizational citizenship behaviour; there was a significant positive relationship between abusive supervisionand counterproductive workbehaviours. Lastly, there was a significant negative relationship between organizational citizenship behaviourand counterproductive workbehaviours.Thus, basing on the findings, since abusive supervision was negatively related to organizational citizenship behaviour and positively related to CWB; it is recommended that organizations take measures to reduce or curb abusive supervision through appointing individuals with high levels of self-control as supervisors.
