This dissertation aims to explore and analyze the theme of hypocrisy in Ganda fables, a rich oral tradition found within the Ganda culture of Uganda. Fables serve as a means to impart moral lessons and societal values, often using animals as characters. The theme of hypocrisy, characterized by the contradiction between stated beliefs and actions, is prevalent in these fables and provides insightful commentary on human behavior and societal norms. The research methodology employed in this study involves a comparative analysis of selected Ganda fables, focusing on the instances where hypocrisy is depicted. A qualitative approach is adopted, utilizing content analysis to examine the textual elements, characters, and narrative structures that convey the theme of hypocrisy. This contextual background serves as a foundation for understanding the societal values and moral expectations that shape the portrayal of hypocrisy in Ganda fables. The research identifies and analyzes a range of Ganda fables that prominently feature instances of hypocrisy. Through close analysis, the research conquers the consequences of the hypocritical character‟s actions, and the moral lessons conveyed. Various literary devices, such as symbolism, irony, and metaphor, are explored to understand how they contribute to the portrayal of hypocrisy and its underlying messages. Furthermore, the dissertation explores the broader implications of hypocrisy within the Ganda society, investigating the ways in which these fables reflect and critique societal norms, expectations, and power dynamics. The study also delves into the potential cultural, social, and educational significance of analyzing these fables and their portrayal of hypocrisy in contemporary Uganda. In conclusion, this research project seeks to provide a deeper understanding of the theme of hypocrisy in Ganda fables and its implications for the society and as well shed more light on the complex nature of human behaviour.en_US
