Imagery in selected Ganda riddles.
Abstract
This study analyses the use of images of different kinds in the selected riddles in Ganda community. The images in these riddles are identified in the choice of words, performance and also the response from the audience with examples drawn from communities in Buganda. Using data from field research, different works/text about riddling and riddles among others, this study analyses the extent of images used while basing on the different types of riddles. Also, the study shows the crossover from the young people to the adults due to their challenging nature. The understanding of riddles differs in society due to the striking events of the society.
