The study aimed at establishing the effects of ride hailing applications on the welfare of cyclists. It mainly looked at income, customer base and safety as measures of welfare. The study used paired t-test statistics in establishing significance of change in income before and after joining the ride hailing application/platform. There was a 14,888.89 increase in the average income earned by the cyclists that joined the platform/application. The increase in the average income was statistically significant, p (0.0000) and we are 95% confident that the increase in average income lies between 13,391.52 and 16,835.26. Paired t-test statistics were also used to establish significance of change in the cyclists’ customer base. There was an average increase of 6 daily customers to the cyclists that joined the platform/application. The average increase in the number of daily customers was statistically significant, p (0.0000) and we are 95% confident that the average increase in the number of daily customers lies between 5.490454 and 6.109546. The Chi square test statistic was used to establish the relationship between safety of cyclists before and after joining the ride hailing application/platform. There was a significant improvement in the safety of cyclists after joining the ride hailing applications, p (0.05).en_US
