There’s little or no time spent by doctors to remind patients about their medication on a timely
basis, and due to busy schedules of some patients it’s easy to forget to have or take their
prescribed medication on time. This creates a weakness especially on the patient side.
The study of this report was intended to develop a cancer patient medication intake monitoring
and reminder app, to remind patients of their prescribed medication plans as set by the
assigned doctors, ask for immediate assistance in case of emergencies and also to provide a
consistent communication between the doctor and patient. Data collection techniques were
used to gather information using forms, questionnaires, observation and interviews that were
issued out to a population sample of doctors, patients and their caretakers. From The findings
there was a need for a system to help remind patients of their medication time promptly, this
would also reduce the burden on their caretakers to spare some time for themselves. The
findings also revealed the system requirements such real time alerts or alarms, patient and
doctor data management are needed to develop the system. The output from this project is a
fully functioning cancer patient medication intake monitoring and reminder Application to be
used by the doctors and patients.
