dc.description.abstractThis report is about the project under taken to develop an inmate management system that tracks and monitors inmate transfers from one facility to another. The report consists of six chapters which include: Chapter one focuses on the main study of the project which is the issues associated with the transfer of inmates between Ugandan prison facilities, the major objective of the study was to develop an inmate management system to solve this problem, and the significance of the study. Chapter two reviews the already existing works done by different researcher on similar issues it describes already existing information systems in prison facilities, the strength and weaknesses of these information systems. Chapter three describes the various methodologies used to achieve the project objectives which include the requirements collection methods, such as the questionnaires, interviews, document review, the analysis and design methods, implementation method, testing and validation methods which were used during the study. Chapter four consists of the analysis and design phase of the inmate management system. Which describes the analysis of the data collected, requirements modeling, data and process modeling including diagrams such as use case, Activity diagram, sequence diagram, class diagram and system architecture. Chapter five consists of the implementation, testing and validation phase of the inmate management system. It describes the technologies used in the implementation of the inmate management system, and the tests done on the inmate management system to ensure validity of the data. Chapter six concludes the report with the achievements, challenges faced, recommendation and areas of future research.en_US
