dc.description.abstract | This project study was undertaken with a main goal of coming up with an HIV Patient Information
Management System (HPIMS) so as to solve the major problem of lack of an effective mechanism
to handle the information of the HIV patients. In an attempt to achieve the main goal, four specific
objectives were highlighted as analyzed below.
Collecting system requirements was the first objective which was achieved through data collection
methods and tools such as interviews, questionnaires, direct observation and reviewing existing
literature. Analysis of the system had to follow by use of spreadsheet. After this, the intended
system was designed through process modeling using Data Flow Data (DFDs), and data modeling
using Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs). The next step was to implement the system and the
languages and tools used in the implementation of the system included PHP, JavaScript, CSS,
HTML, MySQL for data management among others. The final task was to test and validate the
system and this was intended to determine whether the system meets the major aim for which it
was designed. This was through giving out the system to its intended users such as doctors and
patients.
Basing on all the efforts directed towards this research project, we recommend that the new HIV
Patients Information Management System can be adopted by different hospitals due to the functionalities of the system that include proper information management and real time communication between patients and doctors. In conclusion therefore, the HIV Patients Information Management System if embraced will improve HIV patients information management due to its functioning. | en_US |
