The IOT system for covid-19 prevention and control has been developed to be used by students, lecturers and everyone who has access to the block B, college of computing and informatics technology. It was observed that the coronavirus disease has led to significant economic and social disruption, presenting unprecedented challenges to the society not excluding the education sector. Due to the spreading nature of COVID-19, different countries omitted the physical schooling and opted for remote learning systems. At the College of Computing and Informatics Technology, most students require hands on training and hence the need for physical lectures. We were prompted to develop an automated system that can minimize the spread of COVID-19 among the students, staff and non-staff that access block B, College of Computing and Informatics Technology. The existing system being used at block B was reviewed with the aim of finding out the challenges and solving them. The main problem with the current system is that it is manually managed and hence prone to human errors. A few other existing systems being used worldwide were reviewed. Questionnaires, interviews, observations and literature reviews were the methods used during data collection. These enriched us with information that was used to build our system. During the design phase, we used different process and data modeling techniques like DFDs, ERDs to show how the different entities relate with each other and how they relate to the system. The system was implemented using the c programming language for interconnecting the different embedded equipment’s. Our data was sent to the website using an API. This was to enable analyzing and visualization of our data. The system was thereafter tested and validated to make sure that it met all the intended objectives.en_US
